Research
in Palliative Care
2nd
Congress of the Research Network of the EAPC
23-25
May 2002, Ecole
Normale Superieure, Lyon,
France
Dear
Friends and Colleagues,
The
first Congress of the Research Network of the EAPC in Berlin
was greatly appreciated. The Research Steering Committee decided
to repeat in 2002 this original European experience
in the field of Palliative Care.
The
EAPC board of directors welcomed the proposal to host the
second Congress in the congress centre of the "Ecole
Normale Supérieure" in Lyon (France). They considered
it important to have the second event of this type in a French
speaking country and in a University environment.
The
Lyon congress will carry on the spirit and objectives of the
Berlin 2000 Conference :
-
Provide
opportunities for experts and people interested in research
to meet.
-
Encourage
the development of research respecting the ethical principles
of palliative care
-
Encourage and address research in all fields of palliative
care: clinical, social, organisational, etc.
-
Offer
a training course of interest to professionals
-
Discuss
and assess where research is needed in palliative care
-
Discuss
if, where and how, such research is feasible in palliative
care.
-
Clarify
the current status of palliative care research.
Educate a broad spectrum of caregivers with the knowledge
of research that exists among palliative care experts.
The
scientific committee wishes to give special attention to
:
We
will continue the initiative to integrate many selected
research abstracts in the programme and give opportunities
to young researchers.
We
have the pleasure to inform you that the Congress has the
support and collaboration of the "Société
Française d'Accompagnement et de Soins Palliatifs"
(SFAP)
On
behalf of the Scientific Committee and the Research Network
of the EAPC, we cordially invite you to take part in this
innovative congress, looking forward to welcoming you in
Lyon in 2002.
