Norway - National Cancer Strategy 2006-2009

Professor Stein Kaasa, Professor of Palliative Medicine, Norway, was recently appointed by the Norwegian Health Minister to work on the National Cancer Strategy 2006-2009.

Professor Kaasa, who leads the Palliative Medicine Unit in Trondheim, is a member of the EAPC Board of Directors and the Research Network with extensive international collaboration in Europe and the USA.

He has published and lectured widely and was awarded the 2004 King Olav V Cancer Research Prize established by the Norwegian Cancer Society. This was an outstanding achievement for Professor Kaasa and his team, being the first time that the prize had been awarded for research in palliative medicine.
