Swiss Bridge is a private foundation associated with the Swiss Cancer
League and the
International Union Against Cancer (UICC), and supports high quality
cancer research in Europe (www.swissbridge.ch).
Eligible for funding are projects dealing with basic cancer
research, genetics or psycho-social research. Novel
approaches to cancer therapy may also be supported. However,
clinical trials are outside the scope of this year’s Swiss Bridge
Award.
Scientists from academic and cancer research institutions in Europe
are invited to submit a note of intent for a new cancer
research project before March 30, 2007. The proposals
will be screened by an international scientific board. The principal
investigators of a shortlist of about 8 - 10 projects will then be invited
to submit (by email) a detailed research application by the end of July
2007. Upon peer review and recommendation from the scientific board,
up to five projects will receive funding amounting to a total support
of up to 1 Million Swiss Francs. 50 percent of the funds available are
earmarked by the donors for Swiss projects.
The note of intent should be no longer than 5 pages (2’500 words)
and should include:
• the title of the project
• the name, address and affiliation of the principal investigator
• the project period (max. 3 years)
• the amount of financial support requested
• a summary of the project (max. 2 pages)
• a list of up to 12 publications by the principal investigator
• a statement regarding the relevance and potential contribution
of the project to cancer control.
The note of intent must be transmitted by e-mail before
March 30, 2007 to:
