5th EAPC of
the EAPC

The
5th Congress has been organised with the EAPC´s collective
members – the Association for Palliative Medicine of
Great Britain and Ireland and the Marie Curie Foundation –
at the Barbican Centre in London, UK, and was held on 10–13
September 1997.
The
Scientific Committee, chaired by Frances Sheldon, was elected
by the International Scientific Committee together with the
Palliative Care Research Forum of Great Britain. The official
languages were English and French, for which simultaneous
translation was available for all the major sessions. The
Chair of the Organising Committee was Dr Anne Naysmith, and
the Chair of the Congress Steering Committee was Mrs Gail
Sharp of the Marie Curie Foundation, Great Britain.
