Mission
Statement
The
reason why I want to join the EAPC Board is that since
1986 I have been working to promote palliative care
in my country. I have been involved in most governmental
activities promoting and recommending palliative medicine
and I have through numerous reports, chronicles, interviews,
letters etc worked for the implementation of palliative
medicine in the Danish health care system. At the moment
I am involved in implementing palliative medicine in
the region of Copenhagen.
I am and have been deeply involved in research activities
in palliative care nationally and internationally as
it follows from my CV. I have for to periods been a
member of the scientific committee EAPC research congresses
(Venice 2006 and Trondheim 2008). Clinically I am responsible
for palliative care at the National Hospital (Rigshospitalet)
in Copenhagen.
In my career and struggle for palliative medicine I
find the time has come to take part in this important
matter internationally. The development of palliative
medicine in Denmark have until now been slow and sparse
and I find it extremely important to combine national
and international perspectives to improve palliative
care.
