Mission
Statement
Special interests in Palliative Care
and in the EAPC
My
research interests are cancer pain mangement with a
focus on opioid therapy, assessment and treatment of
fatigue and cachexia, pain and symptom assessment, guideline
development and quality assurance in palliative care.
I had the honour to organise the 1st Research forum
of the EAPC in the year 2000 in Berlin as well as the
9th Congress of the EAPC in 2005 in Aachen together
with Friedeman Nauck.
My
agenda for the next years on the EAPC board will include
short-term and long-term goals. In the next months and
years, EAPC should provide guidance on key issues of
palliative care, in collaboration with other associations
whereever possible. In the next decade, EAPC will have
to extend its network with other regional associations
and strengthen its links with the national associations
in order to start political advocacy for palliative
care development throughout Europe.
I
also would like to put some emphasis on the cultural
differences between European countries and on the influence
of these differences on palliative care in Europe and
abroad. Other areas would be advertisement the coordination
of organisational and educational networks and focus
groups.
